Mother’s Day

“Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a MOTHER”.

Truer words have never been spoken when it comes to my mother and grandmother. In the world of role models growing up, boy did my cup overflow-eth which strong women in my life.

Nanny was my compass, my litmus test for life. Most every big decision in life was run by her. She was so much more than a grandmother to me, she was one of the most influential persons in my life. I love her and miss her dearly.

My Mom… as a man of so many words she’s a subject that I fear I am always falling short in adequately describing. From the moment she first knew she was pregnant, she chose her child. As a single mother to me, and later my brothers and sisters; she chose her children over everything including herself.

As mother and step-mother of 7; she chose her children. We were all equal in her eyes and were her purpose in life. There hasn’t been a subject, problem, situation, or time in our lives we haven’t been able to go to her with anything and everything. She has never failed to be there to help even into our adulthood.

As a grandmother, she’s still “Mom” as she is called by her grandkids who she serves and sacrifices for as though she was their mother and not grandmother.

You are our light in the darkest of night, the hand that helps us up when we fall, and the arms that hold us so we don’t. As our Mom you’ve loved us since we were born , as your children we have loved you all of our lives.

Happy Mother’s Day Mom! We love you so much!

And to all of the other Grandmothers, Mothers, and Aunts and Sisters who act as though; your role and impact is never taken for granted in the lives of those you love so dearly. May you all have the happiest of Mother’s Day too.
