The Economics of Life

There are moments in life, little segments of time that come from the most random of places. Regardless of how brief they may be, in these moments everything makes sense, life is as clear as it’s ever been.

The imperfectly perfect when it’s least expected, the surprise of not seeing it coming, the feeling of balance and harmony from the stars aligning and achieving a zen state. There’s no formula, no design, or re-creation; just the beauty of an organic and naturally occurring phenomenon.

Tonight for me, it was a cooler evening, beautifully painted evening sky, and taking my daughter driving.

“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”

It’s easy to fall into a cruise control state, or find yourself hitting the snooze button in life, but we have to be mindful of the fact that time is the most precious currency we have. One that serves no purpose in collecting, but requires thoughtful and deliberate spending.

When I look back, it’s going to be the little moments that I remember the most, those I’ll remember with the greatest of detail, and long to revisit. Whether they have been with my kids, my family, my friends, those I’ve worked with, or even those I’ve shared a time in my life with; those are the moments that make me smile, and those are the moments that propel me forward.
